Hey! So Glad You're Here.
Welcome, this is my first blog post ever, my birth in this half of the virtual world. The name of the game here is everyday stuff, stuff that's run-of-the-mill, that somehow reveals the logic of this perishable commodity we call life. It is going to be a collection of random bits and pieces of information about the world around me and how I see it.
Here (as in life, for that matter), nothing is right or wrong, messy or orderly, truthful or deceptive. I plan to set the ideas that I find useful or interesting into an easy permanent form.
A creative kleptomaniac
This is something very few will admit to but is true nothing is completely original. Every new idea is just a remix or a mashup of one or two previous ideas. I am a creative kleptomaniac and pretty much what you’ll find on this blog will be some sort of imitation of something that already might exist.
“Good artist copy, great artists steal”
– Picasso
So yes, I am not reinventing the wheel here, but then again we are a combination of all the influences we’ve had(parents, teachers, friends, movies, music etc.) so why not this.
I, of course, don’t want to look like but want to see like the ones I copy. The key to theft is that imitation is not flattery, the transformation is and I want to go beyond imitation to emulation. Conan O’Brien says that all comedians start by emulating heroes, fall short, then find their style. Well, that’s pretty much the plan here.
What this blog means for me
This blog is my way of retaining the information present here and possibly learning more from it with the help of your comments. I have no intention of benefiting in any way other than this.
Also, this is my step to understanding who I am. I firmly believe that it is in the process of creating and working that we find who we really are and somehow having this empty canvas inspires me to fill it.
“Life isn’t about finding ourselves.
Life is about creating yourself.”
- George Bernard Shaw
So yes, I’ll be sharing my thoughts, as streamlined as I can, and so should you and it might help us to understand things better, create ourselves, and maybe even generate more ideas in this process.
And yes, feel free to quote my words and reuse my stuff. You should have understood the attribution routine by now.
